One management feature found in VisualDLP is the ability to track who completes workflow activities while the products on an order are being fabricated. Often labs want to track more than just who completed the task, many labs want to track the units an employee has produced. But how can units be measured when, as in the case a bridge, the product code will appear on the invoice as “Quantity 1” but represent more than one units. For example, lets say the lab has sells product called “5 Unit Bridge”. It may appear like this on the data entry screen and the final invoice.
Produce Name |
Quantity |
Teeth |
5 Unit Bridge |
1 |
7-12 |
Let’s say the workflow for this product consists of 4 activities, we’ll call them Step A – Step D. If a technician completes step A in the Workflow, they are working on 5 units in a bridge. But if we used the Quantity from data entry, it appears they only get credit for 1 unit. How do we ensure the employee gets credit for all 5 units in the bridge.
There are two Settings on the Production Option for the Activities we can use to control how many units the employee is credited. They are:
1) Default Quantity
2) Unit Count Based on Product Quantity
You can find these by going to: Production\Activities then searching for the Activity and opening it. Then click on the Production Option tab and edit the Production Option you want to work with.
Default Quantity will be the default number of units this Activity is worth to the employee when they complete it.
Unit Count Based on Product Quantity tells VisualDLP to use the Product quantity in data entry and set the units for this step equal to that number.
You can use both settings together for even more control. For instance, if you don’t want to give any credit for the step, simply set the Default Quantity to 0. If you want to double the number of units credited based on the Product Quantity, set Default Quantity to 2.
