The iTero Integration 2.0 - How to enable and use the EasyRx / iTero Enhanced API Integration (iTero v2)

iTero Integration - How to enable and use the EasyRx / iTero Integration (v2)

Introduction
EasyRx integration with iTero provides practices with a powerful solution for managing iTero scans. In July, 2023 EasyRx enhanced the EasyRx -iTero integration to support the latest iTero Integration API platform, which we refer to as iTero v2. The integration provides practices with a powerful solution for managing iTero scans. With the integration, practices can easily attach iTero scans to their prescriptions and share with their in-house labs or external laboratories using EasyRx iTero integration, streamlining the process and reducing the risk of errors.  For instance, EasyRx's recent iTero scans can be paired with prescriptions, making it easier for practices to manage patient cases and track progress. Additionally, practices can directly upload scans to a patient profile, allowing for easy access and storage of patient records. The iTero integration with EasyRx provides dental practices a more reliable, faster, and user-friendly way of sending scans, increasing productivity and improving patient satisfaction. Scans should take only a few minutes to upload directly to the prescriptions or patient profiles, making them readily available for our advanced user controlled or EasyRx Automated Services  that will trim, base, label,  and even produce a PTS Trimline file for trimming machine integration.

Benefits to the enhanced integration include:

-More consistent attachment speeds
-More consistent performance; the integration will better handle peak access requests
-Improved communication and support

There are two steps to enable the integration.

1. The EasyRx Support Team works with the iTero Support Team to enable the integration on all your iTero accounts at www.myitero.com
2. Enable the integration in EasyRx, from the 3rd Party Integration page

Enabling the iTero v2 Integration

1. Request to enable the v2 API integration at myitero.com

The new integration requires iTero Support to enable the upgraded integration on all your accounts at  www.myitero.com Contact EasyRx Support at support@easyrxcloud.com or call us 888.340.4751 and provide all your iTero accounts. EasyRx Support will work with iTero support to enable the integration on your account(s).  This will take a couple of day.

Finding your iTero account IDs at www.myitero.com
To locate your iTero account IDs, login to your account(s) at www.myitero.com and go to the Practice Settings page.  If you have multiple accounts at www.myitero.com, make sure to get theoffice ID from each account:

Research ALL Office IDs in your account(s) that you use to receive scans - it is possible and common for a practice to have multiple iTero Accounts/Office IDs.
Your Office ID(s) can be found in your MyiTero account under My Scanners:

Send EasyRx Support the iTero Account ID and Account name:

Office ID: 90397,  EasyRx Orthodontics

3. Authenticate your www.myitero.com logins to the v2 API in EasyRx
To start using the integration, you need to authenticate all of your www.myitero.com logins in EasyRx.

Authenticating your iTero account to your EasyRx Account

After the new iTero v2 integration is enabled on your account, you need to authenticate the new integration on your EasyRx account:
  1. Log in to your EasyRx account.
  2. In the top right-hand corner of the screen, you should see your practice name in blue. Click on your practice name.
  3. In the dropdown menu, click on "Account Settings."
  4. On the left-hand side of the screen, click on "3rd Party Integrations."
  5. In the "iTero Credentials" section, click on "Add."
  6. You will be redirected to authenticate using your iTero credentials. Follow the prompts to complete the authentication process.
  7. Once authenticated, you can pair your office or offices to this EasyRx account. This will allow you to see all the scans from those offices in the iTero recent scans dashboard in EasyRx.
  8. To pair your office, click on "Pair Office" next to the office you want to pair.

TIP: iTero scanners are associated with iTero accounts.  When enabling the integration, make sure to pair all email addresses connected to all iTero accounts used by the practice. If, after enabling the integration, you are not seeing all of your iTero scans, the most likely issue is not all email addresses for all iTero accounts are paired in EasyRx.

Go to Account Settings - 3rd Party Integrations:

You will be redirected to this page, where you will input your iTero credentials; once complete, you will return to the 3rd Party Integrations page.

Pairing Page

Once one myitero.com login is paired, the v2 iTero Recent Scans Dashboard will display and you can view the iTero recent scans for each paired login.
NOTE: Make sure to pair all myitero logins to see all iTero Scans.

Authenticating multiple iTero accounts under one EasyRx account:

iTero only allows one authenticated user at a time, and incognito mode ensures that the cookies from the first authentication are not saved.

To authenticate more than one iTero account in one EasyRx Practice account, we recommend using incognito mode. This is because iTero stores cookies during the authentication process, and using incognito mode ensures that these cookies are not saved.

Here are the steps you should follow:

  1. Open a new incognito window in your web browser.
  2. Login to your EasyRx account in incognito mode.
  3. Authenticate your first iTero account.
  4. Close the incognito window in your browser.
  5. Open a new incognito window.
  6. Login to your EasyRx account in incognito mode again.
  7. Authenticate your second iTero account.

Opening your browsers in incognito:

Default export settings

For best results, we recommend the practice takes iRecord scans or the iRecord+Invisalign scan type on their iTero machine.

Scans will be exported using these settings:

Orthodontic:
Export Type: iCast = Open Shell
Export Type:  iRecord = Open Shell
Data Format = File Per Arch (arches oriented in occlusion)
File Type = STL (No color)

Restorative:
Implants and Other Exports -- Open Model.

Once you have enabled these export settings in your iTero account, you can proceed with setting up the iTero integration in EasyR.

How to attach iTero Scans to Prescriptions

There are three ways to attach the iTero Case Order ID to prescriptions:
  • Use the Recent - iTero Scans menu option on the dashboard
  • Use the Lookup iTero scans on the Uploads tab
  • Manually enter the iTero Case Order ID on the Uploads tab

EasyRx Recent iTero Scans Dashboard

Once the iTero integration is enabled, the iTero Recent Scans menu option displays on the Main Dashboard. The iTero Recent Scans Dashboard in EasyRx is where you can view all the recent scans taken by your office's iTero scanner. You can access this dashboard by clicking on the "iTero Recent Scans" tab in the left-hand menu.  Overall, the iTero dashboard in EasyRx makes it easy to manage your office's iTero scans and prescriptions in one convenient location.

When selected, you'll see a list of all iTero scans, sorted chronologically, with the most recent scans on the first page
  • You can refresh the list by clicking [Check for New Scans] at the top (like you just took a scan that is not displaying)
  • Click [Create Rx] to create a prescription for the selected patient. If the patient is found in EasyRx, the [Create Rx] screen is displayed. If the patent is not found, the lookup patient screen is displayed, allowing to link to a existing patient or create a new patient
  • When the prescription loads, the iTero Case Order ID is copied to the Uploads tab and validated
  • [view rx] is displayed if a prescription has already been created using that scan.  Click [View Rx] to view the prescription

Adding the iTero Case Order ID from the Uploads tab when Creating a Rx. You will see the option to enter an iTero Case Order ID # and lookup

If you know the Case Order ID, you can enter it in the iTero CaseOrder ID box.   If you don't know the case order ID, click [Lookup and Insert iTero Case].  When clicked this opens a window displaying Recent iTero scans

  • The scans are displayed in chronological order, with the most recent scans on the first page.
  • Click [Check for New Scans] to refresh the list
  • Click [attach scan] to attach the Case Order ID to this prescription
  • Helpful hint: The case ID # is always a set of numbers; there are no letters in the case ID. Do not confuse this with the Order Details ID or the Order Code. In iTero the Case ID is usually referred to as simply the "Order ID".
After you enter the correct iTero Case Order ID number,  click VALIDATE. When Validate is clicked, EasyRx will search your iTero account to identify which iTero patient your Order ID is linked with. This verification is a fairly quick and only takes about 2-4 seconds depending on your internet connection and iTero's server availability. If the case order matches the patient you are creating the Rx for, you are good to go. If you can't a different patient name, you should re-enter the case order ID.

Unable to validate message

In the above image, you will receive a "Unable to validate this Case Order ID..." if the iTero Case Order ID is incorrect or does not exist. Please use the [MyAlignTech] link provided to find the correct Order  number and also make sure there are no blank spaces in the Case Order ID field.

The above image shows a properly entered iTero Case Order ID that is linked to the correct patient. You may proceed to continue editing your prescription or [Proceed to Submit] to move on to the [Checkout page]. EasyRx will automatically attach the iTero scans as STL files after you submit the prescription. This applies to both if submitting to your in-house lab or a commercial lab. Remember if you took an iCast scan, EasyRx cannot auto-attach the file until the MyAlign team first finishes their work. iCast scans take between 2-5 days to process. Once done processing, EasyRx will auto-attach within a few minutes of it being completed in your iTero portal. We highly recommend taking iRecord scans to reduce the auto-attach delay.

Attaching an iTero Scan to an EasyRx Patient Profile

  1. Go to the EasyRx patient manager and log in to your EasyRx account.
  2. Click on the patient profile that you wish to attach the iTero scan to.
  3. Once you are in the patient profile, look for the "Add Case" button and click on it.
  4. From the dropdown list, select "Look Up and Insert iTero Case".
  5. EasyRx will show you a list of all your recent scans. Find the scan you want to attach to the patient profile and click on the "Attach" button next to it.
  6. The scan will now be attached to the patient profile and you can view it by clicking on the "Scans" tab within the patient profile.

That's it! Following these simple steps will allow you to easily attach your iTero scans to the relevant patient profiles in EasyRx.

To recap, the iTero integration with EasyRx allows you to seamlessly manage the iTero scans and prescriptions in one convenient location. By following the step-by-step instructions provided, users can quickly set up the integration, sync scans to the dashboard, and attach scans to patient profiles with ease.
